Retraction Watchで鈴木実（Makoto Suzuki）熊本大学大学院生命科学研究部（臨床系）呼吸器外科学教授、重松久之（Hisayuki Shigematsu）愛媛大学大学院医学系研究科心臓血管呼吸器・再生外科学講師の論文と高橋孝夫（Takao Takahashi）岐阜大学医学系講師（腫瘍外科学）らの論文が不正な画像操作等で撤回されたことを報じた[1]。要するにデータの捏造・改ざん事件。
鈴木や高橋がテキサス大サウスウェスタン医療センターに所属していた時の不正論文。最終著者はどれもAdi F. Gazdar。 Gazdarグループの不正でもある。

「An Internal Review Committee at UT Southwestern Medical Center found evidence of improper manipulation and replication of figures in this paper. A subsequent review by Dr Gazdar and his staff has independently confirmed the Committee’s findings.
In this paper, the GAPDH loading controls, specifically Figures 1A and B (p. 1030), appear to be identical to Figures 1A and B published in a subsequent paper (Suzuki et al, 2007). The authors have therefore recommended the retraction of the manuscript to the Editor-in-Chief of British Journal of Cancer.
Dr Suzuki, Dr Gazdar and their co-authors sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused the readers of the British Journal of Cancer[2]」

Gazdar・高橋が共著者となっている別論文に昨年10月にCancer Biology & Therapy誌でExpression of concernが公表された[5]。これも明らかな画像張り付けで改ざんの可能性が高い。[1]で言及されたようにGazdarグループは現在までに6編の論文が撤回されている[1]。
不正論文の共著者をみると鈴木や重松や高橋の他にも、砂長則明（Noriaki Sunaga、群馬大学医学系病態制御内科学呼吸器・アレルギー内科講師）、T Iizasa、T Fujisawa、K Hiroshima、Kuniharu Miyajima、豊岡伸一（Shinichi Toyooka、岡山大学医学系臨床遺伝子医療学講座教授）という日本人と思しき人たちが数多く名を連ねている。著者のうち誰が不正を実行したのか言及されていないが、少なくとも不正論文の筆頭著者・責任著者になっている鈴木実とAdi F. Gazdarは責任を免れないだろう。
鈴木実は熊本大学大学院生命科学研究部の所属だが同部は他にS.Mの捏造疑惑や論文不正指摘の握りつぶし事件が発生した。不正指摘握りつぶし事件を考えると同大がどこまで公正に調査するのか心配になる。鈴木実の不正論文は鈴木が千葉大に所属していた時のものだから日本で調査するとすれば千葉大の調査になるのかもしれない。もっとも、本件はテキサス大が調査すべきだろう。
上の論文の不正は確定又は濃厚なので厳正な処分を実行し、不正防止に努めなければならない。
